We visited the Helmholtz Centre in Dresden – Rossendorf (HZDR).
There we had the opportunity to visit the radiation sources ELBE (electron linear accelerator for high brilliance and low emittance beams) and TELBE (High-Field High-Repetition-Rate Terahertz facility @ ELBE). With the radiation source ELBE different kinds of secondary radiation – electromagnetic radiation as well as particles – are generated. The properties of this radiation makes ELBE an outstanding research tool both for external users and for scientists at the Helmholtz Centre Dresden-Rossendorf. During the guided tour through the research facilities, we were able to gain insights into various laboratories. The researchers of the HZDR gave exciting lectures and were open for discussions.
