The chapter has participated in the “Dresden Long Night of Science”, where research facilities in the whole Dresden area open their doors to the public for one night in order to present newest research topics. Our chapter presented optical experiments which where related to recent detection of gravitational waves. Using a Mach-Zehnder-Interferometer, the function of the used detectors was explained simply. Experiments designed for everyone were prepared in order to teach the principle and effects of interferometry, especially to children.
