Demetri Psaltis is Professor of Optics and the Director of the Optics Laboratory at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). His research interests are in imaging, holography, biophotonics, nonlinear optics and optofluidics. He has over 400 publications in these areas. Prof. Psaltis is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Optical Society of America (OSA), the European Optical Society (EOS) and the Society for Photo-optical Systems Engineering (SPIE). In his talk “Teaching optical systems by example”, he addressed the practical reduction of aberration effects in imaging systems by performing post processing using neural networks.
